Job Summary

As a Disease Control Nurse with Ingham County Human Resources, you will play a critical role in protecting the public health by investigating and monitoring reports of communicable diseases. Your expertise will be essential in implementing public health actions, consulting with healthcare providers, and providing education and interventions to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and monitor reports of communicable diseases, such as measles, hepatitis, and tuberculosis.
  • Implement public health actions as mandated by the public health code.
  • Consult with physicians, school personnel, and others concerning the transmission, treatment, and containment of communicable disease.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing services, including assessment, teaching, counseling, and prevention services to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Develop and implement protocols for communicable diseases, evaluating procedural changes and assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license and certification in communicable disease control.
  • Experience in public health nursing and disease surveillance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various locations throughout the county. The successful candidate will be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
