Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Laser Set Up Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating a CNC CO2 or fiber laser to produce sheet metal parts. This role involves performing machine setups, calibrating and maintaining equipment, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the machine cutting performance. The operator will work closely with engineering personnel and other machine operators to achieve production goals.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, clean, calibrate, and perform basic preventive maintenance on machines
  • Work with maintenance and repair technicians to diagnose equipment problems as needed
  • Continuously monitor machine cutting performance and efficiency, making adjustments as needed
  • Read material tags and work orders, selecting the correct materials
  • Locate and move raw material and parts using a pallet jack or forklift
  • Count and record daily production activity
  • Separate cut parts from scrap
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Work well with engineering personnel and other machine operators
  • Lift up to 75 lbs throughout the shift
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean working environment
  • Produce sheet metal parts by setting up and operating a CNC CO2 or fiber laser
  • Perform machine setup including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, lens cleaning and adjustments
  • Start up and shut down laser machines
  • Perform multiple setups per shift for short runs and longer production runs
  • Check the accuracy of work using blueprints and precision measuring tools such as calipers
  • Have experience with material loading automation
  • Edit G code
  • Work from blueprints, rough sketches, and customer samples for prototype production
Essential Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience setting up and operating a CNC laser for cutting light gauge sheet metal
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints
  • Experience in machine operating and mechanical production
  • Ability to perform machine setup and calibration
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers
  • Ability to edit G code
  • Experience with material loading automation
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Any experience with a laser/punch combo is a plus

Work Environment

The work environment is a fabrication/sheet metal shop, which is relatively clean for a fab shop. We are acquiring a new laser (laser/punch combo) that operates much faster than our current CO2 laser.

We offer positions for 1st shift (7:30am-3:30pm) and 3rd shift (Midnight-8:30am), Monday through Friday.

Pay: $16-$26 depending on experience, interview, and shift
