Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our educational team in Carson City, NV. This full-time position requires the ability to provide comprehensive psychological services to students across a range of needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff to foster a positive and inclusive educational environment for all students. The role involves assessments, interventions, counseling, and consultation to support students academic, behavioral, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychological Assessments: Conduct psycho-educational assessments for students referred for evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services and/or identify learning and behavioral difficulties.
  • Individual Counseling: Provide individual counseling services to students experiencing emotional, social, or behavioral challenges, and develop intervention plans.
  • Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create and implement intervention strategies, behavioral plans, and supports for students.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention services as needed, assisting students in coping with immediate psychological, emotional, or social crises.
  • Professional Development: Participate in staff training, workshops, and development sessions to enhance awareness and understanding of mental health and psychological issues affecting students.
  • 504 Plans & IEPs: Assist in the development of 504 plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including the provision of psychological input and progress monitoring.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student assessments, counseling sessions, and progress. Prepare reports as required for special education and other student services documentation.
  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP meetings, and work in close coordination with other specialists (speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to ensure holistic support for students.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Masters or Specialist degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid Nevada School Psychologist certification or the ability to obtain licensure within the state of Nevada.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a school setting is preferred but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong understanding of psychological assessment tools and intervention strategies for students with academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges.
    • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload efficiently.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team and provide professional leadership in educational settings.
