Position Overview:
Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a full-time, onsite position in Bloomfield, CT for the 2024-2025 school year. This role involves supporting 4th and 5th-grade students, with a caseload of up to 20 students. The position includes push-in and some pull-out services for the SPIRE reading program, a structured and easy-to-follow reading intervention. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive school environment where you can directly impact students' academic and emotional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide special education services to 4th and 5th-grade students, including push-in and pull-out support.
- Deliver SPIRE scripted reading lessons to improve students' literacy and reading skills in a structured and easy-to-implement format.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students on your caseload, ensuring accommodations and modifications are in place.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify and adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Track and monitor students progress, adjusting interventions and teaching strategies as needed.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to support students' academic progress.
- Participate in IEP meetings and work closely with families to ensure that all student needs are met.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social, emotional, and academic development.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations concerning special education and student assessments.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education (or related field).
- Valid Special Education certification for the state of Connecticut.
- Experience teaching special education, particularly with elementary-aged students, is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn and implement the SPIRE reading program.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with general education teachers and other school staff.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and making a meaningful impact on their educational experience.
