Location: Freeport, Illinois

Position Type: Full-Time

Start Date: 2024-25 School Year

Job Overview:

Procare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive counseling services to students, supporting their academic, social, emotional, and career development needs. The School Counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community resources to create a supportive and effective educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Counseling and Guidance:

    • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address personal, social, and academic issues.
    • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate guidance lessons and activities for students.
    • Support students in setting goals, developing coping strategies, and making informed decisions.

  2. Academic Support:

    • Assist students in course selection, academic planning, and preparation for post-secondary education or careers.
    • Monitor student academic progress and provide interventions and support as needed.
    • Collaborate with teachers to identify and support students with academic challenges.

  3. Crisis Intervention:

    • Provide immediate support and intervention for students in crisis situations.
    • Develop and implement crisis response plans and strategies.
    • Offer follow-up counseling and support to students and families after a crisis.
Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Masters degree in school counseling, psychology, or a related field.

  • Certification:

    • Certification as a School Counselor in the state of Illinois.
    • Professional Educator License (PEL)

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience working as a school counselor in a K-12 setting is preferred.
    • Experience with diverse student populations and a variety of counseling techniques.
