Position Summary

Perform equipment and facilities electro-mechanical troubleshooting, preventative and repair maintenance activities. Assist and instruct other hourly maintenance personnel by conducting training sessions to expand and optimize the knowledge and performance of the Rotek maintenance activities.

 

Individual Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

1.        Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace.  Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting near misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and insist others to do the same

2.        Through continuous monitoring and measurement, assure that all products meet or exceed the customer expectations and assure compliance with all procedural requirements.

3.        Must observe and comply with all safety rules and precautions, utilizing extreme care when exposed to high voltage and arch flash potential energy sources.

4.        The individual must possess a good understanding and have practical PLC programming and control logic diagnostic experience to include the following basic knowledge:

a.        Knowledge of PLC numbering systems and terminology

b.        Connection of external devices

c.         Programming of a PLC

d.        Identification of discrete inputs and outputs

e.        Identification of analog inputs and outputs

f.         Use and operation of counters

g.        Read and write RS-Logic software plc5, plc5000 

h.        Use RS lynx software

i.          Use RSs network

j.          Use Mitsubishi programming software

k.        Work on Fanuc and Siemens’ controllers and software

l.          Understanding of HMI interfacing with pc interfacing to plc

m.      Understanding of Motor drive software

n.        Understanding of servo hydraulic valves and software

o.        Understanding of interfacing hydraulic controls to a PLC

6.        Upon diagnosing problems be able to:

p.        Read a basic ladder logic diagram and statement list. Identify the proper manual to refer to for programming or installation of a PLC and connect a simple discrete input and output to it.

q.        Identify the defective components within the PLC and / or other connected subordinate components within the ladder hierarchy 

7.        Power On, Home Out and Power Off Machine

8.        Locate and Diagnose CNC Alarm Messages

9.        Find and Understanding Operator Messages

10.     Find and Clear CNC Machine Fault Messages

11.     Initiate The Movement of All Machine Axis'

12.     Use Machine and CNC Diagnostic Parameters

13.     Upload and Reload Machine Memory

14.     Troubleshoot CNC Drive Problems

15.     Remove and Install Electronic Drive Components

16.     Set UP Electronic Drive Parameters

17.     Initiate and Use MDI Command Routines

18.     Repair and Replace CNC Panel Components

19.     Ability To Instruct and Train Personnel

20.     The person shall be skilled and experienced with the following equipment:

a.        Operate Overhead and Jib Cranes

b.        Operate Scissor Lifts Using Safety Restraints

c.         Operate Bucket Lifts Using Safety Restraints

21.     The person shall be skilled and experienced with the following maintenance activities:

a.        Perform Preventive Maintenance Tasks

b.        Complete PM Work Orders and Records

c.         Lubricate, Service Fluids and Take Oil Samples

d.        Change Oils, Filters and Properly Dispose

 

22.     The person shall be skilled and experienced at performing the following machine component maintenance tasks:

a.        Remove and Install Basic Components

b.        Inspect, Remove, Install and Adjust Ball Screws

c.         Make Machine CNC Servo Axis Adjustments and Calibrations

d.        Remove, Realign and Adjust Chip Conveyors

e.        Remove and Install Rotary Unions

f.         Pull, Install and Make Wire Repairs

g.        Remove and Install Pneumatic Components

h.        Remove, Install, Wire and Align Motors

i.          Remove, Install and Wire Pumps

j.          Set-up Pump VFD Drive Parameters

k.        Set-up VFD Fan Drive Parameters

 

23.     The person shall be skilled and experienced with performing the following trouble shooting and equipment diagnosis tasks:

a.        Troubleshoot Tool Changer Index Errors

b.        Troubleshoot Coolant Systems Errors

c.         Troubleshoot Table Indexing and Movement Errors

d.        Troubleshoot Hydraulic Servo Malfunctions

e.        Troubleshoot Pneumatic Servo Malfunctions

f.         Use Machine Internet Interfaces

g.        Diagnose and Tests Electrical Motors

 

  1. The person shall be skilled and experienced with reading and interpreting drawings and schematics so to perform trouble shooting and equipment diagnosis tasks:

 

a.     Identify and Research Part Numbers

b.     Read and Interpret Electrical Symbols / Drawings

c.     Read and Interpret Pneumatic Symbols / Drawings

d.     Read and Interpret Mechanical Symbols / Drawings

e.     Read and Diagnose Ladder Diagrams / Drawings

 

25.      The person shall be experienced having a good knowledge of the following electrical / electronic principals and subjects:

a.        Understands and Can Apply Ohms Law

b.        Understands Voltage, Current, and Resistance

c.         Understands The Principals and Hazards of AC Power

d.        Understands The Principals and Hazards of DC Power

e.        Understands Series and Parallel Circuits

f.         Understands The Effects of Magnetic and Induction Fields

g.        Understands The Principals of Transformers

h.        Understands The Principals of AC and DC Motors

i.          Understands The Principals of Motor Starters and Contractors

j.          Understands The Principals of Circuit Protection Devices

k.        Understands The National Electric Code

l.          Has A Working Knowledge of Electrical Bus Bars

m.      Has A Working Knowledge of Electrical Disconnects

n.        Has A  Working Knowledge of Electrical Distribution Panels

o.        Understands the Principals of Electrical Load Balancing
