LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our client’s team in Toledo, OH. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with proven leadership skills and hands-on experience in audits, budgets, accounting operations, payroll, tax, and billing. This role is critical in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.

  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.

  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

  • Lead and manage the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and assess any changes necessary.

  • Provide leadership and support to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.

  • Nice to have legal industry experience

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Hands-on experience with audits, budgets, accounting operations, payroll, tax, and billing.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
