Job Description

The Production Manager is responsible for the overall success of the team and department with a focus on managing people, succession planning, job descriptions, strategy, budgeting, and optimizing shrink and yield.

Responsibilities
  • Exhibit communication leadership while working directly with supply, sales, logistics, distribution, and performance departments.
  • Oversee ongoing production manager scheduling and personnel training.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all required paperwork in a neat, legible, and timely manner.
  • Maintain an efficient and productive line of cooperation and communication with other departments and support groups.
  • Organize and update operating procedures on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain a high level of morale in all areas of production by responding to employee needs, recognizing achievement, and providing ongoing training programs.
  • Meet and maintain all related company objectives and efficiency standards, including pounds, cases per man hour, safety, sanitation, quality, and product specifications.
  • Hire new employees and handle disciplinary procedures.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage pay increases.
  • Ensure products are produced efficiently while maintaining company quality standards.
  • Train an assistant to assume all related duties on days off, during illness, vacation, or out-of-plant workdays.
Essential Skills
  • Experience leading a team of 40+ associates.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Experience in Fresh Foods/CPG preferred.
  • Skills in continuous improvement and process improvement.
  • Supervisory and management skills.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies, manufacturing operations, and production supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership qualities to positively influence others and delegate responsibilities.
  • Competencies in conflict management, business negotiation, organization, and decision-making.
  • Prepared to complete relevant training and certifications.
  • Knowledge of Food Plant Quality, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions and work independently to resolve quality-related problems.
  • High level of problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a farm and production setting with exposure to product fumes such as onions and peppers, and varying temperatures of 45 degrees or less. The position requires frequent standing, walking, repetitive hand motions, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Employees may need to carry products weighing 5 to 50 pounds. Overtime and a flexible schedule are required, with shifts from 7am to 4pm or 4pm to 2am, and potentially working six days per week during peak season.
