SVS Group is currently hiring for a Shipping Supervisor with one of our Aerospace clients in the W. Phoenix area. This is a 1st shift Monday - Friday.

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Shipping department and supervising a team of Shipping Clerks. This role combines leadership in managing the flow of goods, ensuring accurate and efficient shipment of products, and coordinating with other departments to meet customer deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate work activities of Shipping Clerks.
  • Review and process shipping order to determine parts and quantities to be shipped, ensuring accuracy in all shipping documents (e.g., packing lists, ASN, BOL).
  • Oversee the packaging and labeling of products, ensuring that they comply with customer requirements and shipping standards.
  • Manager logistics by scheduling in-house driver and coordinating with external contractors for LTL and FTL shipments.
  • Interfaces and communicates with other departments in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
  • Assign tasks to workers and specify methods of coordinating workflow to meet shipping schedules.
  • Perform job performance evaluations and corrective action of workers.
  • Performs analysis in determination of root causes for problems and defects and implements corrective actions.
  • Participates in the determination of direction and philosophy for the company.
  • Manage time cards and time off request (PTO) in company HRIS system.
  • Make sure all employees are working safely and accurately.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of any and all safety incidents within a 24 hour period.

Education and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred) with a minimum of three years as a lead person or similar experience, however acquired.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast paced, high unit shipping environment.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping systems and logistics (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL).
  • Ability to cycle count and has inventory experience.
  • Ability to identify the problems and all relevant issues in straightforward situations, assess each using standard procedures, and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Forklift operator certified but not required.
  • Computer software skills in ERP systems MS Office programs and general data entry.
  • Has a sense of urgency with a “hands-on” attitude. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee successfully perform essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
