Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are offering a contract for a permanent position as a Cable Technician in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. This role is in the telecommunications industry and involves a variety of tasks, including handling fiber optic cables and maintaining customer service standards.

Responsibilities:
• Efficiently conduct the prepping and splicing of both loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables
• Carry out fiber optic testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal network performance
• Install rack mounts and fiber optic enclosures as per customer design requirements
• Undertake termination of Fiber and coring and splicing of OSP coax
• Certify Nodes and balance Amps for maintaining network standards
• Carry out aerial line work and operate a bucket truck while adhering to all safety and traffic regulations
• Handle various fiber equipment including fusion splicer, fiber light identifier, light source power meter, and OTDR
• Understand and interpret prints and fiber maps for network installation and maintenance
• Work from splice logs (splice matrices) and conduct auditing of fiber optic systems
• Create as-builts for maintaining accurate network records.• Proficiency in handling Fiber Optics
• Expertise in managing CAT5 cabling systems
• Proficient in dealing with CAT6 cables
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and rectify cable faults
• Experience in installing and maintaining cable systems
• Comprehensive understanding of cable system layouts and network plans
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
