Job DescriptionJob Description
Job Summary: The Quality Control department is responsible for conducting release testing for raw materials, manufactured goods, purchased materials for repackaging, and packaged goods for sale. This role involves performing analytical chemistry testing against various specifications to determine if materials meet required standards. Testing will include both wet chemistry and instrumental analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with the department supervisor and Team Leads to ensure timely completion of departmental tasks.
  2. Adhere to all safety requirements and consult Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for PPE and safety guidance.
  3. Practice proper laboratory safety and waste disposal protocols.
  4. Execute testing per documented procedures.
  5. Recognize out-of-spec (OOS) results and initiate investigations as necessary.
  6. Pay close attention to detail and report issues to Team Leads or Supervisors.
  7. Manage smaller projects or recurring tasks with minimal oversight.
  8. Demonstrate Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and uphold Data Integrity Principles.
  9. Utilize knowledge of chemistry and instrumentation for analyses such as FT-IR, pH, moisture content via Karl Fischer, and other wet chemistry tests.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related Life Science field with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience (academic or industry).
  • OR
  • Associate degree in Chemistry or a related Life Science field with a minimum of 3 years of experience outside academic laboratories.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience executing laboratory investigations.
  • Familiarity with compendial testing (USP, EP, JP).
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Solution-focused approach when addressing problems or setbacks.
Certifications:
  • Pre/annual employment screening and medical monitoring required.
  • Must pass background check and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Physically and medically cleared to wear a respirator.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
