Director of Sales

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow our sales team within the logistics industry. This role will be responsible for managing a team of 5-6 sales professionals, with the expectation of expanding the team by an additional 6 members over the next year. Reporting directly to the VP of Sales, who is a dynamic, results-driven hunter, the ideal candidate will bring a strong background in logistics and a proven track record of sales leadership and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a sales team of 5-6 individuals, focusing on performance improvement, goal setting, and personal development.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth, customer acquisition, and market expansion.
- Work closely with the VP of Sales to align on company objectives, sales strategies, and key market opportunities.
- Drive the expansion of the sales team by recruiting, onboarding, and training 6 new sales members over the next year.
- Cultivate a high-performance, results-oriented sales culture, ensuring that team members are motivated and supported to achieve and exceed targets.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the logistics sector, ensuring that the team actively hunts for new customers while nurturing existing accounts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments, such as operations and customer service, to ensure smooth execution and delivery of services.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to continuously improve the sales approach and maintain a competitive edge.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales metrics, providing regular updates to the VP of Sales.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of sales leadership experience, ideally within the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry.
- Proven track record of managing and scaling sales teams, with the ability to coach and develop high-performing individuals.
- Strong understanding of logistics services, including freight forwarding, warehousing, transportation management, or similar.
- Experience in both account management and new business development, with a hunter mentality.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, working closely with a VP of Sales who embodies a "hunter" personality.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience managing large-scale accounts or working with key decision-makers in the logistics industry.
