Job DescriptionJob Description
Job Summary:The Printing Systems Technician will be responsible for maintaining and operating large commercial printing equipment. This role involves performing routine maintenance on printing systems, handling supplies, and ensuring the efficient operation of digital production printers. The technician will also support waste ink management, equipment repairs, and the receipt and storage of printing materials.
Key Responsibilities:Maintenance & Equipment Operation:Perform daily and weekly maintenance activities on large commercial printing equipment.Record activities and document any issues related to the equipment.Load and unload ink cartridges and handle waste ink collection and disposal.Operate end-processing equipment on printed rolls, and perform basic printer repairs as needed.
Material Handling:Handle and move large paper rolls using pallet jacks; load and unload them from printing equipment.Organize waste ink collection bins and drums, and periodically move them to shipping docks for vendor pickup.Receive deliveries of ink, paper, parts, and other supplies; record transactions and stage items for warehouse or lab storage.
Logistics & Waste Management:Manage waste ink collection and ensure proper disposal.Assist with moving waste ink containers to designated areas for vendor collection.
Required Qualifications:Mechanical Aptitude:Strong mechanical inclination with the ability to operate and troubleshoot large industrial equipment.Previous experience operating or working with printing systems technology.
Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, lift, and walk for extended periods.Capable of lifting up to 40-50 lbs when handling materials.
Attention to Detail:Ability to follow established procedures and instructions with precision.
Technical Proficiency:Interest in and ability to quickly learn the operation of digital production printer hardware and control units.Preferred Qualifications (Optional but advantageous):Previous experience in a commercial printing environment.Familiarity with waste ink management and related safety procedures.
Certifications (if any):Certifications in printing systems operation or maintenance would be a plus but not required.
