Job Description

A cardboard box manufacturer is seeking an I&E maintenance technician to perform electrical and mechanical repairs throughout the production facility. The candidate will troubleshoot and repair equipment, performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs to minimize downtime on the line. This role is primarily electrical, with 85% of the work focusing on electrical and instrumentation tasks. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance according to the PM schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors controls, PLCs, and reconnect to new lines using ladder logic.
  • Troubleshoot HMI screens and perform extensive instrumentation calibration.
  • Troubleshoot variable speed AC and DC drive controllers and calibrate sensors.
  • Trace and troubleshoot circuits such as E-stop circuits and run circuits.
  • Understand and repair servo motion controls, incremental and absolute position encoders, and resolvers.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Perform hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
  • Repair and replace motors, chains, sprockets, gears, and belts on equipment.
  • Fix equipment including conveyors, die cutters, large printing machines, a 300 ft. long corrugator, palletizers, wrappers, and material handling equipment.
Essential Skills
  • 7+ years of maintenance/I&E experience performing electrical repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and trace down sensors and circuits.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, electrical motors, and drives.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Experience with motor controls and instrumentation calibration.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in high-speed manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley equipment.
  • Familiarity with conveyor maintenance.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and non-climate controlled, with the floor being hot due to the machines in operation. However, there are numerous fans in the building to help with ventilation. The work schedule includes working from Monday to Saturday or Sunday, with a weekend off every three weeks. There is also the possibility of working on Sundays as needed or not working on Saturdays if the workload allows. The shift hours are from 7 PM to 5 AM, with 10-12 hour shifts. Initially, the person will work on days for 2-3 weeks and then transition to the night shift.
