The Graduate Apprentice Program at InsideHigherEd is a unique opportunity for graduate students to gain hands-on experience in supporting high school students in their transition to higher education. As a Graduate Apprentice, you will work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies to increase student success and retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with high school students and staff to promote Ohlone College and its services
  • Provide information and support to students on college applications, financial aid, and other related topics
  • Assist with recruitment and enrollment efforts, including presentations and workshops
  • Collaborate with college administrators and staff to develop and implement student support programs
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities with high school students and staff

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a master's program at a regionally accredited college or university
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Good record-keeping skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to provide an equitable and inclusive working and educational environment
  • Sensitivity to people from various academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, religious, gender, physical ability, and religious backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual competency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language

Working Conditions:

  • Assignment to school sites in the Ohlone Community College district
  • Maximum of 20 hours per week over a span of 45 weeks
  • Reliable transportation to and from assigned locations
