POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinic-Based Recovery Doula (RD) is responsible for providing comprehensive support services to families preparing for childbirth and connecting them with ongoing resources in their communities post-delivery. Recovery Doulas are skilled professionals who offer continuous emotional, physical, and informational assistance to parents throughout the childbirth process. By integrating personal experience with substance use, mental health, or chronic illness, along with Peer Support training, Recovery Doulas deliver essential support to expectant families. A successful doula excels in nurturing, advocating, and guiding families, ensuring they receive well-informed advice while respecting their choices for an optimal birth experience. Clinical oversight is provided by a licensed Behavioral Health Provider.
COMPENSATION: $18.31-$18.90 (Non-certified), $21.92-$23.84 (Certified).
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time to Full-time hours available.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certificates/Licenses:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified Lactation Counselor Certification (to be obtained within the first year of employment).
- Certified Facilitator for Fatherhood/Motherhood is Sacred and/or Circle of Security (to be obtained within the first 6 months).
- BLS Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
- Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support (PS 101 may be completed within the first 30 days of employment for SUD/Mental Health peer supporters only).
- WRAP training.
- Motivational or Solutions-Based Interviewing.
- Trauma-informed care training.
Experience:
Required:
- Personal experience with substance use and/or mental health challenges, with a minimum of two (2) years of successful recovery.
- Community outreach and education experience.
- A strong passion for supporting birthing families.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
- Five (5) years of experience in community organizing, youth work, ministry, education, or public health.
- State Certification as a Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist.
- Certification as a Birth/Post-Partum Doula.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:

Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain stable recovery and necessary care/treatment for behavioral health challenges, publicly identifying as being in recovery from a mental health, substance use, or addiction diagnosis.
- Follow an individual mom/family enrolled in Sacred Families through the birthing process and beyond, providing emotional, physical, and informational support.
- Complete a Family Plan of Safe Care with each family and engage with Child Protective Services (CPS) if a current case is open, fostering a proactive relationship with CPS.
- Conduct basic screenings for resource needs and refer families to the appropriate One Health community worker for assessment and referral to necessary services.
- Provide regular peer support in relation to Substance Use Disorder (SUD), mental health, or chronic illness needs until two weeks before birth, when support will intensify with daily check-ins.
- Monitor patient charts for required Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) once per trimester and once postpartum, referring patients to providers if there are gaps in SBIRT data collection.
- Attend huddles for healthcare and behavioral healthcare to stay informed of each client's treatment plan.
- Assist families in scheduling regular appointments for adequate prenatal care and encourage participation in supportive activities like groups and recovery community events.
- Provide support at the hospital during labor and birth, remaining for 1-2 hours post-birth to collect data regarding the birth, infant, and mother.
- Continue intensive support at home for two weeks following birth, offering assistance and postpartum education, transitioning back to peer support thereafter.
- Facilitate Centering Pregnancy cohorts and deliver birth education using the Sacred Families curriculum, aiming to provide this education to every pregnant family at One Health.
- Conduct Motherhood/Fatherhood is Sacred and/or Circle of Security parenting classes.
- Offer lactation counseling as needed for all enrolled families.
- Track and compile data for grant-related quality assurance/quality improvement projects and all required Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funding reports.
