Job Summary

The Employment Development Department is seeking a highly skilled Industry Coder (Program Technician) to join our team. As an Industry Coder, you will play a critical role in reviewing and assigning industry codes to employers covered under California Unemployment Insurance laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assign industry codes to employers based on their business type and operations
  • Re-evaluate existing industry codes assigned to employers to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Work under the direction of a Supervisor to assign county codes, physical location codes, and ownership codes for various businesses in California
  • Use various system-generated listings, including an address refinement list, to complete coding duties
  • Utilize the telephone, Internet, and other computer systems and tools to complete coding tasks
  • Answer telephone calls from employers to assist with coding questions

Working Conditions

This is an office position working Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no direct access to the public. Travel may be occasionally required to attend meetings, trainings, and conferences.
