Job Overview

Position Summary: The Inventory Slotting Specialist plays a crucial role in assigning product (SKU) locations to enhance the efficiency of product selection. This position ensures that all items are positioned in suitable pick slots within the designated warehouse zones (dry/cooler/freezer/satellite warehouse). The Specialist is responsible for arranging products in a manner that minimizes the risk of personal injury and product damage. This role involves identifying and addressing slotting inefficiencies through data analysis using various spreadsheet and software tools. Effective communication with warehouse, purchasing, and inventory control departments is essential. The Specialist will collaborate with team members across departments and undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support the company's internal and external clients.

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6 PM to 4 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Assess current product placements and implement necessary adjustments
  • Establish optimal location capacities to maximize space utilization and minimize replenishment needs
  • Initiate and oversee the setup of new item slotting, analyzing expected velocity and product dimensions to ensure accurate configurations prior to receipt
  • Verify that product and location data is accurate in the AFS system
  • Monitor the warehouse management system for available slots
  • Ensure that pick locations and check digits are clearly displayed
  • Examine various reports and data to effectively resolve slotting challenges and confirm slot contents and counts. Regularly review inventory movement and the effectiveness of slot locations
  • Utilize systems and data to appropriately slot items based on velocity, cube, and weight to reduce replenishment frequency, enhance productivity, and minimize the risk of injury and product damage
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates of all data to facilitate informed decision-making across departments
  • Document slot changes, modifications, and expansions to maintain accurate product location identification
  • Inspect and uphold pick slot efficiency and effectiveness for optimal performance
  • Reorganize products within the warehouse to maximize cubic space utilization
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks in the work area as required. Secure all equipment and complete necessary documentation at the end of the shift
  • Execute other related duties as assigned

Equipment Operation:

  • Adhere to safety protocols for equipment operation (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure that assigned equipment is well-maintained and clean, reporting any repair or service needs to the equipment mechanic to prevent damage.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and sanitation policies to mitigate accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.
  • Utilize equipment horns when navigating out of storage areas into open view areas, and when entering walkways or row intersections to enhance safety.
  • Connect batteries to power outlets when not in use to ensure equipment readiness.

  • Ability to perform physical labor that involves constant movement and frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, stacking, and carrying items weighing up to 55 lbs throughout a shift (10+ hours)
  • Capability to reach, squat, kneel, bend, stand, and walk frequently during the shift
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including as low as -10 degrees F
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and lift test specific to the essential physical requirements of the position
