Inventory Slotting Specialist

Position Summary: The Inventory Slotting Specialist plays a crucial role in optimizing product locations (SKU) to enhance the efficiency of product selection. This position is tasked with ensuring that all items are appropriately allocated within designated pick slots across various warehouse zones (dry/cooler/freezer/satellite). The Specialist is dedicated to ergonomically arranging products to minimize the risk of personal injury and product damage. Utilizing data analysis through various software applications, this role identifies and addresses slotting inefficiencies. Effective communication with warehouse, purchasing, and inventory control teams is essential, as is collaboration across departments to fulfill the needs of both internal and external customers.
Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6 PM to 4 AM
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Assess current product placements and implement necessary adjustments
- Establish optimal location capacities to maximize space utilization and reduce replenishment needs
- Initiate and oversee the setup of new item slotting, analyzing expected velocity and product dimensions for accurate configuration prior to receipt
- Verify the accuracy of product and location data within the AFS system
- Monitor the warehouse management system for available slots
- Ensure that pick locations and check digits are correctly displayed
- Analyze various reports and data to effectively resolve slotting challenges and confirm slot contents and counts. Regularly review inventory movement and the effectiveness of slot locations
- Utilize systems and data to accurately slot items based on velocity, cube, and weight to minimize replenishments, enhance productivity, and reduce the potential for injury and product damage
- Ensure timely updates of all data to facilitate informed decision-making across departments
- Document slot changes, alterations, and expansions to maintain accurate product location identification
- Inspect and uphold pick slot efficiency and effectiveness for optimal performance
- Reorganize products within the warehouse to maximize cubic space utilization
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the work area as necessary, securing all equipment and completing required paperwork at the end of the shift
- Carry out other related duties as assigned
Equipment Operation:
- Adhere to equipment operation protocols (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Ensure assigned equipment is well-maintained and clean, reporting any repair or service needs to the equipment mechanic to prevent damage.
- Comply with all safety regulations and sanitation policies to mitigate accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.
- Utilize equipment horns when navigating out of storage areas into clear view zones and when entering walkways or row intersections to enhance safety.
- Charge batteries when not in use to guarantee the availability of fully operational equipment.

- Capable of performing physical tasks that involve constant movement and frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, stacking, and carrying items weighing up to 55 lbs throughout a shift lasting 10+ hours
- Ability to reach, squat, kneel, bend, stand, and walk frequently during the shift
- Able to work in environments with varying temperatures, including as low as -10 degrees F
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and lift test specific to the essential physical requirements of the position
