The Patient Care Associate/Healthcare Support Specialist role is a versatile position that evolves daily to fulfill both clinical and administrative responsibilities within the practice. Key duties include assisting healthcare providers with clinical tasks and direct patient interactions, as well as managing various administrative functions to support patients and staff efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical tasks, monitor and document vital signs, prepare examination areas, sanitize instruments, and assist healthcare providers in patient care, adhering to established protocols and regulations.
- Facilitate patient check-ins, confirm/update personal information, arrange appointments, process insurance referrals, and handle patient inquiries, including follow-ups and medication refills.
- Manage patient documentation, collect payments and co-pays, execute daily financial reconciliations, and maintain accurate patient records, including scanning and organizing correspondence.
- Engage in team discussions to clarify roles, address patient concerns, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to office committees as necessary.
- Oversee phone communications, including answering and routing calls, scheduling and confirming appointments, sending messages through patient portals, and ensuring efficient patient flow.
- Ensure timely follow-up on clinical documentation, including prior authorizations, disability forms, and medication renewals to maintain compliance and efficiency.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to sit or stand for extended periods. Must be capable of operating necessary equipment.
- Onsite position.
