Job Summary:

A surgical technologist at Dayton Children's Hospital is responsible for assisting surgeons in the pediatric intraoperative phase, adhering to AORN and OSA standards of practice. Collaborates with healthcare team members to meet patients' needs in a cost-effective manner. Provides exceptional customer service to patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members. Functions as a team player, practicing open communication and a positive, flexible attitude. Assists in meeting departmental goals by participating in quality improvement activities. Serves as a role model, change agent, educator, coach, and patient advocate. Maintains sterile technique, prepares for procedures with age-appropriate instrumentation and supplies, utilizes physicians' preference cards, and passes instrumentation. May be required to take call in accordance with departmental policy. Position requires working on both main and south campuses.

Requirements:

Associate's degree in Surgical Technology is required. Must be a graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technical school. Certified Instrument Specialist - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (CIS) is preferred. CPR is preferred at hire, but must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date.

Certified Surgical First Assistant - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, CIS - Certified Instrument Specialist - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - American Heart Association
