Job Summary:

Virginia Oncology Associates, a leading cancer care and blood disorders group, seeks a Medical Assistant to support our clinical teams in Norfolk and Virginia Beach offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, including exams and procedures.
  • Promote efficient patient flow and care, ensuring timely exams and procedures.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain necessary patient records for treatment or procedures.
  • Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions, and arrange follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties, including pre-authorizations and pre-certifications.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a multi-physician practice.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Ability to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the profession and industry.
  • CMA certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as needed.
