The RN, Registered Nurse, position at Christus Health requires a skilled and compassionate individual to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic clinical setting.
Responsibilities- Assess the physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care using evidence-based practice.
- Provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers on various aspects of care.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and coordinate care across settings.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and make adjustments as needed.
- Critically think to assess patient needs.
- Develop and use specific plans of care.
- Implement and monitor treatment progression.
- Evaluate care outcomes and adjust as necessary.
- Anticipate and plan for admission/discharge/transfer needs.
- Utilize effective communication systems and tools.
- Coach others on checking, cross-checking, and validating orders.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care on assigned shifts.
- Demonstrate good stewardship of equipment and supplies.
- Assess departmental staffing needs and participate in resource allocation.
- Incorporate patient safety practices to promote positive outcomes.
- Demonstrate accountability for research and quality improvement activities.
- Communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care.
- Follow established policies and procedures.
- Analyze policy documentation and ensure compliance.
- Provide feedback for procedure improvement.
- Maintain accurate electronic patient records.
- Describe health information documentation best practices.
- Explain techniques for ensuring accuracy.
- Describe experience with basic medical equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools to resolve common equipment problems.
- Ensure proper equipment function prior to use.
- Read and interpret patient charts for accuracy.
- Identify mistakes or omissions and alert staff.
- Validate own interpretation with others.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Recognize and address potential safety issues.
- Document misses and near misses, participating in real-time analysis and reporting.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- RN License in state of employment or compact.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required at time of hire (experienced RNs) or within 18 months (new graduate nurses).
- PALS required at time of hire (experienced RNs) or within 18 months (new graduate nurses).
- Crisis intervention training required within 12 months of hire/transfer date.
- TNCC required within 6 weeks of hire (experienced RNs) or within 18 months (new graduate nurses) for trauma designated facilities.
- 7AM - 7PM work schedule.
$60,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
