Job Description

The RN, Registered Nurse, position at Christus Health requires a skilled and compassionate individual to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic clinical setting.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care using evidence-based practice.
  • Provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers on various aspects of care.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and coordinate care across settings.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and make adjustments as needed.

  • Assess departmental staffing needs and participate in resource allocation.

  • Incorporate patient safety practices to promote positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate accountability for research and quality improvement activities.
  • Communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care.

  • Follow established policies and procedures.
  • Analyze policy documentation and ensure compliance.
  • Provide feedback for procedure improvement.
Health Information Documentation
  • Maintain accurate electronic patient records.
  • Describe health information documentation best practices.
  • Explain techniques for ensuring accuracy.
Medical Equipment
  • Describe experience with basic medical equipment.
  • Use diagnostic tools to resolve common equipment problems.
  • Ensure proper equipment function prior to use.
Patient Chart Reading and Interpretation
  • Read and interpret patient charts for accuracy.
  • Identify mistakes or omissions and alert staff.
  • Validate own interpretation with others.
Patient Safety
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Recognize and address potential safety issues.
  • Document misses and near misses, participating in real-time analysis and reporting.
RequirementsEducation/Skills
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
  • RN License in state of employment or compact.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required at time of hire (experienced RNs) or within 18 months (new graduate nurses).
  • PALS required at time of hire (experienced RNs) or within 18 months (new graduate nurses).
  • Crisis intervention training required within 12 months of hire/transfer date.
  • TNCC required within 6 weeks of hire (experienced RNs) or within 18 months (new graduate nurses) for trauma designated facilities.
Work Schedule
  • 7AM - 7PM work schedule.
Estimated Salary Range

$60,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
