POSITION SUMMARY: Aperion Care Lakeshore is seeking a dedicated RN responsible for delivering direct nursing services to residents while overseeing the daily nursing operations conducted by nursing assistants. This role requires adherence to federal, state, and local regulations to ensure the highest quality of care is consistently provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily activities of nursing assistants, collaborating with assigned nursing staff and support personnel to plan and execute shift services, programs, and activities. Prepare and present reports regarding shift activities as necessary. Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents while providing leadership to nursing staff on your unit.
- Complete and maintain all necessary documentation upon resident admission, transfer, and discharge. Accurately receive and transcribe physician orders, ensuring they are recorded on the appropriate forms. Document nursing notes in a clear and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided and the resident's response. Prepare incident reports and submit them as required.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Foster a collaborative working relationship with inter-departmental personnel and other facility departments to ensure nursing services meet resident needs. Create a warm and positive atmosphere while maintaining a calm environment throughout the unit. Conduct rounds with physicians as needed.
- Provide specialized nursing services, including catheterization, tube feeding, suctioning, dressing changes, and other professional care as required.
- Monitor nursing staff to ensure compliance with safety regulations regarding equipment and supplies.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information. Report any known or suspected breaches of confidentiality. Ensure that all nursing care is delivered in privacy and that nursing staff respect residents' personal space.
- Administer IV care and manage IV sites as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current, unencumbered state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
- Able to make independent decisions when required.
- Knowledgeable about nursing and medical practices, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Experience in Long Term Care settings is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to move throughout the workday.
- Capacity to handle the mental and emotional demands of the role.
- Must meet health requirements as outlined by facility policies, including medical and physical examinations.
- Able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and a distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in resident evacuations during emergencies.
