Quality Assurance Specialist Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that products meet customer specifications and industry standards. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at maintaining high-quality standards throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer purchase order specifications to ensure alignment with production capabilities.
  • Interpret and apply international standards including ASME, ASTM, ANSI, and SAE to quality assurance processes.
  • Examine Energy Steel-generated drawings for accuracy and adherence to quality and customer specifications.
  • Review and authorize work order instructions, confirming they encompass necessary quality requirements.
  • Create and implement job-specific instructions and procedures to enhance quality assurance practices.
  • Evaluate and approve documentation to ensure compliance with order and specification requirements.
  • Verify the completion of inspection/test hold points as outlined in shop traveler documentation.
  • Document and monitor nonconformance and corrective action reports to ensure resolution.
  • Compile final documentation and certification packages for product shipments.
  • Support other departments by addressing quality-related inquiries.
  • Provide after-hours support for the QA Department during emergencies.
  • Assist the Director of Quality during external audits and inspections to uphold quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the quality assurance function.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in quality assurance verification activities.
  • High school diploma or GED with at least six months of relevant experience in quality assurance.
  • Completion of college-level coursework leading to an associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Desirable skills include NDE qualifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards documents, and specifications effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
