Banquet Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Manager to join our team at the Stanford Hotel Group. As a Banquet Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of banquets, conferences, and other events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interview and hire staff
  • Train, motivate, and monitor staff performance to ensure exceptional guest service
  • Prepare payroll and schedule duties for department staff
  • Select and train captains and servers in technical and service aspects
  • Conduct pre-meal briefings, monitor service during meals, and provide sample setups
  • Responsible for table settings, service orchestration, and housekeeping during meal service
  • Responsible for maintenance and appearance of banquet rooms, including cleanliness and decorations
  • Responsible for customer signature on each banquet check and securing payment for each event
  • Familiar with operating procedures of kitchen, housepersons, bars, and stewards department
  • Supervise bar service during functions and control food and beverage flow
  • Control setup and breakdown of china, glass, and silverware according to standard operating procedures
  • Control linen usage and return, and recommend repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment
  • Co-responsible for food quality through cooperation with the banquet chef and kitchen
  • Responsible for maintaining a high rapport with catering department, kitchen, and other departments to ensure quality guest service
  • Responsible for service of outside catering events
Requirements:
  • High School graduate
  • Minimum four years experience in first-class banquet operations in the position of banquet captain
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate verbal and written English with guests, management, and coworkers
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to adhere to posted work schedule and arrive on time with impeccable professional appearance
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field
  • Ability to communicate in a second language, orally and in written form, preferably Spanish
  • Certification in alcoholic awareness program, C.P.R., and First Aid
