Position Overview

Role Summary:

This position encompasses two primary functions: providing academic support at Delaware Elementary School and leading youth programs at Dream Center Evansville (DCE).

Academic Support Coordinator: This role is dedicated to assisting DCE students at Delaware Elementary School. The coordinator fosters an encouraging atmosphere, ensuring students feel supported in their educational journey, enabling them to excel academically.

Youth Program Leader: Youth Program Leaders are tasked with designing and overseeing DCE's extracurricular programming for elementary students. They play a crucial role in executing the strategic initiatives of the Youth Development Team, aimed at ensuring students flourish, achieve educational milestones, and progress along the Cradle to Career continuum (CtC). Key responsibilities include program design, academic assistance, classroom management, and creating a safe and enjoyable environment for youth development. Leaders must be available to work until 6:30 PM as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Support: Coordinators collaborate with Delaware staff to support Dream Center students within the educational setting. They conduct small group and individual sessions during school hours to promote academic success, goal-setting, and social/emotional learning (SEL). They may also assist in supervising students during lunch and recess as coordinated with school personnel.
  1. Program Leadership: This role ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for out-of-school programs through the implementation of:
  • Effective classroom management techniques,
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) based curricula,
  • Engaging and high-quality activities in classrooms and gyms,
  • Biblical-based educational content,
  • Positive youth development practices,
  • Meaningful connections with students.

Program Leaders are essential in cultivating a positive culture within the out-of-school programs, aligning their work with the vision and mission of Dream Center Evansville.

  1. Spiritual and SEL Growth: This role involves fostering an environment that nurtures participants' spiritual journeys. Leaders may facilitate small group sessions that incorporate biblical teachings, worship, and related activities to convey the message of the Gospel. They utilize best practices to engage students socially, emotionally, and behaviorally, imparting Biblical truths and their practical applications.
  1. Academic Enrichment: Leaders may implement academic interventions as directed by the academic development team. They may also plan and execute hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities as assigned, ensuring students are engaged in diverse learning experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children and managing classroom environments.
  • Exemplifies behavior consistent with Christian teachings.
  • Must be an active member or regular attendee of a Bible-believing church.
  • Possesses a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrates ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of effective multitasking.
  • Passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and willing to undergo training to operate 15-passenger vans/buses.
  • Exhibits strong relationship-building skills with both children and adults.

Employment Conditions:

  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be comfortable operating DCE vehicles, including 15-passenger vans.
  • Background checks must reveal no felony or misdemeanor convictions related to abuse, drugs, alcohol, neglect, theft, or fraud.
