About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomist Specimen Processor to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our specimen processing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures to collect blood and other specimens from patients
  • Process and receive specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and storage
  • Accession specimens and distribute them to the appropriate laboratory departments
  • Perform and result specific test procedures, as required
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of phlebotomy course preferred
  • Current license or trainee license in the state of practice (if applicable)
  • Strong computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information clearly and professionally
Working Conditions

This role requires frequent exertion of 10-20 pounds of force to move objects, occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force, and prolonged sitting. Mechanical lifting devices or team lifts should be utilized. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue, with potential occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
