At Mississippi Blood Services, our laboratory professionals engage in immunohematology reference tasks and provide expert consultations for our partner hospitals in a supportive and stress-free atmosphere. Beyond reference activities, our specialists manage samples for outsourced analysis; assess laboratory data and test outcomes; troubleshoot and resolve procedural challenges; and contribute to the evaluation, validation, and integration of innovative technologies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain meticulous organization and accuracy in all documentation.
  • Conduct transfusion service consultations, including antibody identification and provision of compatible blood units.
  • Assist in the preparation of various blood components, including specialized ones.
  • Execute fundamental laboratory computer operations.
  • Systematically organize, identify, and label blood and its components with precision.
  • Support all aspects of shipping recovered plasma to commercial partners.
  • Investigate and address product quality concerns.
  • Document and perform all stages of batch release, including reconciliation, result entry, verification, and component quarantine.
  • Oversee and document all phases of the disposal of unacceptable components.
  • Conduct and document all testing, quality control, and maintenance activities to meet internal and external regulatory standards.
  • Ensure the competency of new technical staff by adhering to the Laboratory's Training Program.
  • Assist in instructing students or groups in routine production methodologies.
  • Daily reconciliation of all blood products.
  • Encourage ongoing professional development as necessary; achieve and maintain proficiency in all required laboratory procedures.
  • Support the technical laboratory manager in organizing and maintaining written records of training and competency evaluations.
Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess a consistent work history and a Bachelor's Degree. Certification in Medical Technology is preferred, with SBB, BB, or prior experience in a blood bank being advantageous. Our comprehensive training program is designed to ensure your comfort with the procedures you will be expected to perform.

Working Hours: 12:00am - 8:00am, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends.
