The Director of Athletic Health Services will be primarily accountable for overseeing the comprehensive sports medicine program, which encompasses injury prevention initiatives, assessment of injuries, management and rehabilitation protocols, educational outreach, and guidance for student-athletes involved in the sports medicine program.

This role will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director of Internal Operations.

Key Responsibilities:


Lead the development of the sports medicine program and manage the operations of the athletic training facility. Supervise and provide direction to athletic trainers, interns, and students.

Conduct screening, prevention, and treatment of sports-related injuries and conditions. Ensure direct athletic training coverage during practices and competitions, including evening and weekend commitments as necessary.

Oversee safety measures during athletic events by identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
Assist injured athletes with the completion and submission of insurance claims as needed.
Engage in recruitment activities relevant to the operational area.
Demonstrate the ability to manage, prioritize, and execute multiple projects effectively.
Exhibit professional behavior in accordance with ethical standards and institutional guidelines.
The absence of specific duties does not limit the supervisor's authority to assign related responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply concepts from training programs, conferences, and professional literature.

Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and loud noises.

Familiarity with inventory control and ordering of supplies and equipment.
Capability to assess therapeutic needs for student-athletes and to fit and adjust therapeutic and protective equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Proofreading abilities are necessary.
Attention to detail and adaptability to a dynamic environment are critical, along with reliability.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with LinkedIn Learning, as well as a solid understanding of organizational structure, workflow, and operational procedures.

Experience with the Jenzabar technology suite for higher education is preferred.
Willingness to work outside of standard business hours.
Moderate physical activity is required.

Must be able to handle objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and stand or walk for more than four (4) hours daily.


Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in athletic training with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.

A Master's degree is preferred.
Compliance with all governing rules of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is required.
Must be a Certified Athletic Trainer and hold National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) credentials. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community is essential.
Flexibility to maintain a work schedule that may include nights and weekends is necessary.
Must possess a valid State of Florida license from the Florida Board of Athletic Trainers.
CPR and AED certification is required.
