The Director of Athletic Health Services will be primarily accountable for overseeing the comprehensive sports medicine program, which encompasses injury prevention initiatives, assessment of injuries, management and rehabilitation, educational outreach, and counseling for student-athletes involved in the sports medicine program.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of the program and manage the operations of the athletic training facility, including the coordination or assignment of other athletic trainers, while providing guidance and training to the team of athletic trainers, interns, or students.
Conduct screening, prevention, and treatment of sports-related injuries and conditions. Provide direct athletic training coverage during practices and competitions, including evening and weekend assignments as necessary.
Ensure safety during athletic events by identifying and mitigating potential hazards.Assist injured athletes with the completion and submission of insurance claims as needed.
Engage in recruitment activities as appropriate for the operational area.
Demonstrate the ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects effectively.
Exhibit behavior consistent with professional ethics and the guidelines outlined in the FMU faculty and staff handbook.
The absence of specific duties does not prevent the supervisor from assigning related responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply concepts from training programs, conferences, and professional literature.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Knowledge of inventory control and ordering of supplies, equipment, and services.Ability to assess therapeutic needs for student-athletes and to fit and adjust therapeutic and/or protective equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Proofreading abilities are required.
Attention to detail and adaptability to a dynamic environment are crucial, along with reliability.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and LinkedIn Learning, as well as familiarity with the organizational structure, workflow, and operational procedures.
Experience with the Jenzabar technology suite for higher education is preferred.Willingness to work outside of standard business hours.
Moderate physical activity is required.
Must be capable of handling objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours daily.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in athletic training with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
A Master's degree is preferred.Compliance with all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) governing rules is required.
Certification as an Athletic Trainer is mandatory.
Certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) is required. Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Flexibility to maintain a work schedule that may include nights and weekends is essential.Must hold a State of Florida license with the Florida Board of Athletic Trainers.
CPR and AED certification is required.
