Job Title: Nurse Anesthetist - CRNA - Anesthesiology Specialist

MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a skilled Nurse Anesthetist to join our Anesthesiology department. As a CRNA, you will be part of a talented team dedicated to providing exceptional anesthesia care to our cancer patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine the appropriateness of pre-anesthesia examinations and assessments.
  • Develop and implement plans of care based on patient assessments and anticipated procedures.
  • Administer anesthetic agents and monitor physiological responses to maintain patient stability.
  • Provide resuscitative care and record pertinent information on patient records.
Requirements:
  • Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN) issued by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current State of Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license recognizing the certification for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse CRNA (APRN-CRNA), issued by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Certification or recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) issued by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

We have a Nurse Anesthetist part-time (20 hr) opportunity in our Anesthesiology department. The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center is made up of a talented group of physicians, CRNAs, physician assistants, and many others dedicated to providing the very best anesthesia and pain medicine care for our cancer patients.

Our department members are dedicated to growing a truly academic department in all three areas of our academic mission: clinical care, research, and education. We have nearly 80 faculty and over 110 CRNAs in the department working in an anesthesia care team model to achieve our goals.

MD Anderson main location includes 37 inpatient operating rooms, 6 outpatient ORs, and 13-16 non-operating room procedural suites. There are two regional centers (Katy & Woodlands) with 6 procedural areas incorporating endoscopy, interventional radiology, and cardiopulmonary services. The total case volume is over 45,000 cases per year.

We participate in a variety of specialty procedures: pediatrics, neurosurgery (includes awake craniotomies, intraoperative MRI craniotomies, skull base, spines), urology (prostatectomy, cystectomy, nephrectomy, vena caval thrombectomy, robotic procedures), thoracic surgery (extrapleural pneumonectomy, lobectomy, thoracotomy), general surgery (hepatectomy, pancreatoduodenectomy, intra-abdominal hyperthermic hyperperfusion chemotherapy), orthopedic surgery (hemipelvectomy, implants, hip and knee arthroplasty), head and neck surgery (difficult airway, glossectomy and total laryngectomies), plastic surgery, breast surgery (radical mastectomy with flap), and more (no OB, no Trauma, no Open heart).
