Medical Assistant - Patient Care Position Description
Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team in Billings, Montana.
Salary: The hourly range for this position is $17.60 - $22.88 per hour, with an estimated annual salary of approximately $36,400 - $47,000 based on a 36-hour workweek.
Job Responsibilities:
This Medical Assistant will function as a clinical support partner to assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional.
Responsibilities include:
- Responding to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patients with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating effectively with the care team.
- Performing 12-lead EKG duties commensurate with training received and competency.
- Applying, checking, and documenting restraints as directed by RN or physician.
- Providing wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
- Assisting with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges as directed and in compliance with safe patient handling principles.
- Maintaining office and patient care floor stock/supplies and ordering as needed.
- Performing unit secretary duties, including maintaining patient charts, responding to phone calls, updating daily assignment boards, providing equipment care/cleaning, and performing errands associated with patient care.
- Assisting physicians and RNs as directed.
- Promoting the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and adhering to Service Behavior Standards.
- Demonstrating and adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Performing other duties as assigned, including floating to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications, and being placed on-call during regularly scheduled shifts.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current Montana CNA certification or Montana EMT/Paramedic certification.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
- At least one year of experience in a similar setting.
