This Medical Laboratory Scientist position is responsible for applying technical knowledge and skills to perform complex laboratory testing, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform testing in a timely and accurate manner, utilizing advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements, such as CLIA '88 and JCAHO.
- Monitor and control inventory, providing financial data for the department and participating in process improvements to decrease costs and improve productivity.
- Participate in training and competency assessments for employees, providing input for annual assessments and completing training modules for new hires.
- Act as a department resource, providing educational information to internal and external customers and promoting a constructive environment that encourages learning and development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or a related field.
- MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB) preferred.
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and medical terminology.
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
