Ophthalmic Assistant

Job Summary:
EvergreenHealth is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to provide entry-level professional medical and administrative support for ophthalmologists in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will work under general supervision and be responsible for greeting and rooming patients, taking patient history, and performing basic and routine vision screening examinations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Greets and rooms patients per organizational standards
• Takes patient history and performs basic and routine vision screening examinations
• Educates patients on eye care, contact lens care, and preparation for surgical procedures
• Manages and administers eye medications as indicated per provider orders
• Restocks and cleans exam rooms after patient care

Requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Current JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
• 1 year of experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology practice
• General knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, sterilization techniques, and basic eye care
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
