Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Counselor to provide psychological services to students, including brief individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referral to psychiatric and medical resources as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal counseling (individual and group) to help students identify and understand personal issues affecting their quality of life and/or education.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date files, written reports, and job-related data commensurate with current standards of the profession and professional discipline standards.
- Develop and implement programs and workshops, outreach, and liaison activities designed to foster student success.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a networking relationship with community referral resources.
- Consult with university staff, faculty, students, and other professionals to support students.
- Understand and comply with relevant FERPA and HIPAA standards.
- Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or mental health counseling, qualified to independently provide counseling/therapy in Washington State.
- Washington State License.
- Preferred: Doctoral Degree in psychology, counseling, or social work, qualified to independently provide counseling/therapy in Washington State.
- 4-6 years of experience working with adults.
- Preferred: Experience working with high-achieving, graduate students in professional health sciences programs.
- Skill in applying varied therapeutic and psycho-educational modalities.
- Skill in program development and implementation.
- Skill in effective communication with a variety of stakeholders.
- Skill in independent decision making.
- Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another.
- Skill in problem solving.
- Skill in public speaking.
- Knowledge of regulations regarding confidentiality in therapeutic relationships.
- Knowledge of local social services and other external resources.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of advising and counseling practices.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
