Transform the Linux Ecosystem

We're seeking an exceptional Linux Systems Architect to join our team at Canonical. As a key member of our global engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing optimized Ubuntu experiences on various IoT and server-class hardware platforms.

About the Role

  • Design and implement the best Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks
  • Collaborate with partners to deliver a seamless, high-performance Ubuntu experience on their platforms
  • Take a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience on partner platforms, providing inputs on technical plans, testing strategies, and quality metrics
  • Lead complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge
  • Assist customers in integrating their apps, SDKs, building device OS images, optimizing applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server
  • Work with cutting-edge operating systems and application technologies in the enterprise world

Your Background

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
  • You possess experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto)
  • You are familiar with working within open source communities and licenses
  • You have expertise in C, C++ programming languages
  • You can thrive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with graphics stacks
  • A good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST)
  • A basic understanding of security best practices in IoT or server environments
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking experience
  • IoT/embedded experience – from board and SoC, BMCs, bootloaders, firmware to OS, through apps and services
  • Some experience with Docker/OCI containers/K8s
