The Title I Reading Teacher is tasked with enhancing the literacy skills of students in grades 1-2 who are struggling, while also promoting overall high Reading achievement for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate standardized assessment data to determine student Reading requirements.
• Design Reading/ELA lesson plans that cater to identified student needs and complement classroom instruction.
• Deliver targeted small-group instruction that aligns with the specific needs of students.
• Collaborate with classroom and/or other educators to co-teach Reading as needed.
• Support the Head of School in managing Reading assessments, including inventory, scheduling, and distribution.
• Engage with classroom and/or Reading teachers to strategize on student progress.
• Participate in Response to Intervention meetings for the relevant grade levels.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master's Degree in Reading or a related field is preferred.
• Reading certification is mandatory; SEI endorsement is required by the end of the first year.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Strong dedication to educational reform initiatives, especially in promoting equity for low-income and linguistic minority students.
• Excellent communication skills with both adults and children.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively as a team member.
• Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are preferred.
• Commitment to the mission and objectives of Lawrence Family Development Charter School.
• Experience in creating programs tailored to support students with Reading difficulties.
• Experience in developing programs for urban students, particularly those from Hispanic backgrounds, is preferred.
