The Family Medicine Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive primary care efficiently, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver primary medical care to patients, ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR); prescribing treatments; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatments as necessary; discussing procedures and results with patients; advising on lifestyle choices and disease prevention; referring patients to specialists when needed; and managing hospital admissions and follow-ups.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members, including nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other medical professionals.
- Provide emergency medical care to patients as required, including those not enrolled in WFH, when present at the site of care.
- Offer medical consultations and collaborate with nurse practitioners, assisting in the development of guidelines and protocols for patient management.
- Mentor residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in newborn care and after-hours call rotations as necessary.
- Implement clinical policies and procedures that align with current professional standards and The Joint Commission's requirements.
- Engage in initiatives to promote the appropriate use of services by patients at Westside Family Healthcare, Inc.
- Contribute to staff training and professional development activities, including continuing education to maintain licensure and Basic Life Support certification.
- Participate in performance improvement programs and community outreach initiatives offered by Westside.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in family medicine.
- Valid medical license to practice in Delaware.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Willingness to travel between various work locations as required.
- Certification or eligibility for certification by an appropriate American Medical Specialty Board.
- Eligibility for staff privileges at local hospitals affiliated with WFH.
- Experience in direct primary patient care, both outpatient and inpatient, in a full-time capacity.
