About the Role

Riverside Research Institute is seeking a highly skilled Senior RF Engineer or Materials Scientist to join our team in Dayton, OH. As a key member of our Engineering & Support Solutions Business Unit, you will play a critical role in the development and characterization of structural and functional materials for advanced military grade applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate expertise in high-power RF and HEL characteristics and their impact on material performance in system applications.
  • Identify and analyze activities and future investments by the DoD, industry partners, and the global technology base to improve the DoD's ability to develop, build, and field advanced technologies to mitigate the effects of directed energy and radiation on system components.
  • Lead Research, Development, and Test and Evaluation activities across various functional subsystems, including prime power sources, pulsed power systems, radio frequency sources, and high-power antennas, optical systems, and sensors.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians to ensure project success.
  • Support hardware integration of associated components onto platforms and participate in assembly and installation of hardware at various test sites.
  • Investigate target material interaction with RF and laser propagation to optimize performance.
  • Interface with technical personnel and customers to clarify tasking, identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document final solutions.
  • Lead programs and tasks, develop innovative technical concepts, and conduct development activities.
  • Prepare presentations for leadership and decision-makers internal to our government customers.
Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility.
  • 10+ years of experience in the Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) community, recognized for knowledge and understanding of DE technologies or systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in DEW development through analysis, hardware systems, or both.
  • Knowledge of the DoD acquisition processes, policies, and guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with an advanced understanding of customer relationship building.
  • Advanced experience in moderate hazard work areas, such as explosives handling, radiation, fissile material, and electrical.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state nuclear programs, trends, and technologies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing S&T and academic databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, with excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses at a level comprehensible to laymen and senior-level government representatives.
  • Ability to clearly express in writing technical analysis results and program characterizations.
Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline or related STEM field.
  • Knowledge of Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) organizational structures, functions, and communication protocol.
  • 3+ years of experience with intelligence analysis, including employing multi-INT databases to develop analytic assessments and briefings.
  • Current certifications and access for CNWDI and NATO.
  • Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning.
  • Experience effectively devising, utilizing, and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets.
  • Familiarity working with nuclear-related and S&T analytic centers within the DOD, IC, and/or Interagency.
