About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Medical Care Specialist to join our team at OptumCare in McAllen, Texas. As a key member of our Home & Supportive Care team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive, coordinated care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient care in their homes, with flexibility to work in office or other facilities as needed.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, and more.
  • Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Facilitate patient and family decision-making regarding treatment options and end-of-life care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, APCs, RN Case Managers, social workers, and clinic staff.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S degree.
  • Board certification or eligibility in internal medicine or family medicine.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Valid DEA license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship training in Palliative Care and/or Geriatrics.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
  • A working understanding of managed care environments.
