Job Overview:

The Senior Business Analyst provides critical analytical support to management and seasoned staff within the Strategic Resource Center (SRC). This role focuses on identifying opportunities to utilize technological solutions to enhance reporting and data visualization capabilities. The analyst will conduct in-depth analyses concerning staffing trends, financial accounting, budgeting, and project management tasks. Additionally, the position involves evaluating and refining existing processes within the department, executing special projects independently, and aiding in the preparation of responses to requests from the Board of Governors for various financial and staffing deliverables.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and review monthly financial data.
  • Assist in drafting written analyses of financial and operational performance, tracking metrics against budgetary targets.
  • Support the forecasting of financial, volume, and operational performance for the annual budget preparation.
  • Engage in discussions regarding expense, volume, and business trends with management, providing written analyses as needed.
  • Respond to requests for similar analyses from the Strategic Financial Resource Management (SFRM) or Board of Governors.
  • Maintain data integrity and perform analyses using various databases, creating special queries to assist management in identifying areas needing additional focus or training.
  • Participate in project management-related analytical activities, including project plan development, risk identification, status reporting, and progress tracking.
  • Enhance analytical tools and reports utilized within the department.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Prepare analyses for customer conference calls regarding business activities and forecasts.
  • Monitor the inventory and valuation of fixed assets and their impact on operating expenses.
  • Evaluate department contracts and analyze services provided.
  • Engage in and potentially lead system workgroups addressing strategic or operational issues.
  • Contribute to or lead moderate to complex projects, applying various project management skills.
  • Assist in refining analytical tools and reports used within the department.
  • Present analytical findings to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Interact with staff and management across all levels.
  • Facilitate customer meetings as needed.
  • Provide input during conference calls and management meetings.
  • Mentor junior staff as appropriate.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance is required; equivalent education and additional work experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as a financial, business, or project analyst is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting, or project analytics.
  • Proven ability to assimilate new information and apply it effectively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and project management capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MS Project, Word, SharePoint, and Visio.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
