Patient Services Representative

West Hawaii Community Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at our Hilo location.
Job Summary:The Patient Services Representative will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience. This role will be responsible for performing front office activities, including patient registration, scheduling, and cash handling.
Key Responsibilities:- Greets patients and visitors, checks them in for scheduled and walk-in appointments, and updates patient records.
- Provides general information to patients concerning the functions of the health center and answers phone calls, connecting callers to the appropriate offices or staff.
- Schedules, reschedules, cancels, and verifies new and return appointments, and forwards referrals, refills, lab tests, and results as necessary.
- Collects and updates patient data, prepares and assembles new patient health records, and verifies insurance eligibility and personal income.
- Handles patient cash transactions, including collecting payments, posting charges, and generating receipts.
- Maintains accurate records of patient encounters, missed appointments, and late arrivals.
- High school graduate or equivalent and six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
- Basic knowledge of general office procedures, including filing, copying, and faxing.
- Ability to use a computer to enter patient data and retrieve information.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
This is a full-time position, working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
