Role Impact

Geometric computing engineers enable us to enhance our operations and logistics beyond human capabilities. We achieve this through geometric analysis, feature detection, and design rule validation to automate and provide insights into manufacturing choices. This data is shared internally and with our manufacturing partners to elevate the capabilities of our manufacturing network.

Engage with Real-World Models for Practical Applications

At Fictiv, we collaborate to introduce new features to our platform. You will work within small, cross-functional teams to deploy code frequently, ensuring a swift feedback loop between us and our clients. You and your team will have the freedom to explore new development methodologies and technologies to achieve team objectives.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership – All software engineers at Fictiv have the chance to lead initiatives. You will guide the team in clarifying requirements, brainstorming solutions, and making challenging decisions regarding scope and timelines.
  • Enhance Our Analytical Capabilities - We continually strive to push the boundaries of automated reasoning of CAD models for manufacturing. You will introduce new, more intricate manufacturing processes to Fictiv's service portfolio. You'll expand Fictiv's ability to meet prototype to production-scale demands by analyzing datasets, automating DFM feedback, and visualizing 3D models.
  • Examine production data to identify key features for automation.
  • Create algorithms for the analysis of 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Develop heuristics for estimating costs and manufacturability across various manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on computational geometry.
  • Experience in graphics (video game or simulation).
  • B.S., M.S./PhD preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming.
  • Previous internship, work experience, or project team involvement.
We will also consider candidates with the following backgrounds:
  • A) Graduate student (M.S. or PhD)
    Focus on Computational Geometry and/or Computer Graphics
    C/C++ experience
    Preferred: AI and/or machine learning experience.
  • B) Engineer/Researcher/Software Developer
    2+ years of experience related to (some of the following)
    Computational geometry
    Computer graphics
    AI
    Machine learning
    Software and algorithm development
    Experience in coding and algorithm development (work or hobby) for CNC and/or 3D printing applications.
