We are seeking a **Node Construction Project Lead** at TEKsystems, a prominent player in the telecommunications sector. This position involves managing general contractors in node construction for small cell initiatives within the Northern California region. Below are the key details:

Core Responsibilities:

Supervise general contractors in node construction for small cell initiatives in Northern California.

Key Duties:
  • Provide guidance and influence decisions of District and/or Program and Project Managers regarding all facets of construction activities.
  • Engage actively in the Vendor selection process and offer recommendations.
  • Participate in deployment and other client meetings as a subject matter expert.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships that may lead to securing service contracts.
  • Conduct regular site visits during construction phases, including bid walks, pre-construction walks, progress inspections, punch walks, and project closeouts. Offer direction to general contractors during groundwork.
  • Be knowledgeable about prevailing rates for construction work to ensure competitive pricing for quality services.
  • Negotiate project costs within scope, holding Vendors accountable to maintain budgetary constraints; keep District and/or Program and Project Managers and clients informed of any issues affecting project timelines or costs.
  • Address and resolve onsite issues, prioritizing actions to ensure project integrity and budget adherence.
  • Ensure all work complies with company construction standards, processes, and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project files, ensuring timely distribution of closeout documents in line with corporate and client standards.
  • Ensure all projects are accurately tracked in a project management system.
  • Act as a safety observer and Quality Assurance representative on-site, ensuring adherence to the company’s safety program and workmanship standards.
Qualifications:

Experience and Minimum Requirements:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or wireless construction.
  • Familiarity with Outside Plant Construction methods (both aerial and underground) for small cell systems.

Proficient in using testing equipment and techniques for RF Sweep tests, OTDR, Power Meter, and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing for small cell systems.

Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, and OSHA regulations.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of budget formulation and management.
  • Familiarity with construction management processes.
  • Knowledge of site acquisition protocols, including regulatory and permitting procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and understand blueprints.
  • Capability to identify and resolve workflow issues, critical paths, and implement solutions.
  • Customer service-focused with strong problem-solving skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and project management software.
