Wireless Communications Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Wireless Communications Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing wireless communication systems for various applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and develop new technologies to address evolving threats in wireless communications.
  • Design and implement software and hardware prototypes of novel signal processing approaches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate wireless communication systems with other technologies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in communication theory and digital signal processing, with a foundational knowledge of physical, data link, or media access layers of communications systems.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation of physical layers using MATLAB, Python, or other languages.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance and meet the requirements for access to classified information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least ten years of experience in commercial and/or government communication engineering.
  • Wide breadth and depth of wireless systems knowledge.
  • Demonstrated expertise with end-to-end RF system design.
  • Familiarity with geolocation, detection and estimation theory, RF hardware, waveform design, or antenna design.
  • Recent knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community sponsors and programs.
