Job Summary

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Imager to join our team. As a key member of our pediatric ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of highly skilled duties associated with the operation of specialized equipment to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of diseases of the eye.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform optical coherence tomography and ocular digital photography using different makes and manufacturers in accordance with protocols.
  • Review physicians' orders and patients' medical history and allergies in Epic prior to performing imaging and photography.
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide instruction during imaging.
  • Recognize problems or malfunctions of photographic, diagnostic, and related equipment versus patient media opacities.
  • Assist in making minor adjustments and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Access and review previous patient notes within Epic.
  • Recognize and help rectify issues with image import into Forum, image archiving and storage, and managing duplicate patients.
  • Maintain adequate levels of supplies for imaging department and notify supervisor of supplies needing to be ordered.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of ophthalmic/optometric experience required for Ophthalmic Imager I.
  • Two (2) years of ophthalmic/optometric experience and ophthalmic imaging/photography certification, or five (5) years ophthalmic experience required for Ophthalmic Imager II.

Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal, Act 33 with renewal, Act 34 with renewal, Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
