If you possess Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) experience or are nearing graduation from a Surgical Technology program, this position is ideal for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure in accordance with the surgeon's preferences.
- Maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist in upholding the sterile field by applying aseptic techniques and notifying the surgical team of any breaches.
- Implement aseptic and surgical practices as outlined by AORN standards to facilitate the physician's execution of invasive and diagnostic procedures.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs by efficiently passing instruments and providing sterile items.
- Conduct counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments as per established protocols.
- Follow the surgeon's directives for retracting, suturing, and dressing applications.
- Assist with the cleaning and restocking of the operating room.
- Adhere to AAMI/AORN guidelines for the decontamination and sterilization of instruments.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization by cleaning and wrapping them appropriately.
- Coordinate the scheduling of surgical cases.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program.
- Preferred: One year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Certification from the Surgical Technologist Association.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire, at the company's expense.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Work Schedule:
- 64-80 hours per two weeks.
- Start times may vary between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM, typically working an 8-hour shift.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including holiday coverage.
