Position Overview:
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to positively impact the educational landscape by mentoring new educators within the Rockford Public Schools New Teacher Mentoring Program.
- Ensure adherence to Board policies, mission, and objectives.
- Engage in professional development and training sessions.
- Provide guidance and support to novice teachers.
- Document discussions from collaboration sessions and establish growth objectives.
- Uphold the confidentiality of mentor-mentee interactions.
- Deliver constructive feedback and encouragement in line with educational frameworks.
- Participate in a professional learning community to refine mentoring practices.
- Comply with District policies and protocols.
- Attend collaborative meetings and professional development activities.
- Enroll in the Teacher Leader Pathway with a focus on mentoring.
- Take part in summer training and development workshops.
- Complete necessary program documentation and reports.
The Mentor must possess a Standard or Master certificate, hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and have completed the required teacher leadership training. Furthermore, the Mentor should have a solid background, received a 'Proficient' rating or higher on the most recent evaluation, and maintain good standing with the District.Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Mentor should demonstrate proficiency in content knowledge, pedagogical strategies, adult learning principles, effective communication, assessment techniques, feedback delivery, problem-solving, and self-evaluation.Work Environment:
This position may require moderate in-district travel and occasional travel within the state or out of state. Candidates should be prepared for irregular and extended work hours.Performance Expectations:
