The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking a highly qualified Senior Executive Director to lead the Office of National Geodetic Survey (NGS). As a key member of the NOAA leadership team, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and technical expertise to advance the nation's geodetic science and technology capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide scientific and technical leadership in the management, development, and execution of major programs in geodesy, photogrammetry, and related sciences.
- Manage the delivery and evolution of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS).
- Develop and assess special geodetic and photogrammetric procedures.
- Advise the Assistant Administrator (AA), NOS on resource utilization.
- Conduct review and analysis of NGS programs.
- Provide authoritative advice on complex geodetic scientific problems.
- Oversee the provision of technology transfer services.
- Advise on major program and policy development matters.
- Direct the provision of geodetic control for selected airports.
- Represent NOS/NOAA on interagency committees.
- Must have progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive level management capability.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.
- Newly appointed SES members must serve a 1-year probationary period.
- Position is subject to pre-employment background investigation.
- Public Financial Disclosure (OGE-278 filing within 30 days is required).
- Position is subject to random drug testing.
- Must possess all of the mandatory Executive Core Qualifications and Professional/Technical Qualifications.
- Knowledge in geodetic science and related disciplines.
- Experience in geodetic, engineering, and/or physical sciences.
- A degree in geodesy or 30 semester hours in any combination of geodesy, mathematics, physics, astronomy, engineering science, surveying, geodetic surveying, photogrammetry, or geophysics.
- Background Investigation: This position requires a background investigation.
- Public Financial Disclosure: Required under the Ethics in Government Act.
- Qualifications Approval and Probationary Period: New SES members must serve a one-year probationary period.
- Direct Deposit: Required for all Federal employees.
